I am Sarah Kobak, a goldsmith and jewellery designer. As a goldsmith in the Achterhoek region, I work with attention, color and craftsmanship to create jewellery that carries its own story. My fascination with gemstones began at a young age and has always remained. After my training in Goldsmithing at the ROC Zadkine in Schoonhoven, I followed a specialization in Jewellery Design at the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester (UK).<\/p>\n
On August 1, 2007, I officially started my own business and opened my first studio in Zaandam. There I developed my style: a classic base, color as a starting point and granules as a refined, artisanal detail. These elements are still at the core of my work.<\/p>\n
In 2021, I moved with my family to the Achterhoek. The tranquility and space here fit seamlessly with my way of working: attentive, precise and focused on craftsmanship. Since then I have been working from my studio in Beltrum, where I handcraft my designs as a goldsmith in the Achterhoek region. The environment gives me space to create and refine, and you can see that peace in my jewellery. Each piece is hand built from gold, natural gemstones and pearls that I carefully select for color and quality.<\/p>\n
You will recognize my handwriting by an elegant, classic base in which color plays an important role. I work with natural gemstones that make a piece of jewelry vibrant and personal. Granules form my craft signature in this regard: subtly applied, hand-formed and always balanced with the design. In each piece of jewelry, I look for the combination of sophistication, comfort to wear and a clear own style.<\/p>\n
My love for granules arose around 2009, when I visited an exhibition in Drenthe on Etruscan gold. The refinement and precision of that ancient craftsmanship made a deep impression. From that moment I knew that this technique suited me, but in my own formal language. I spent almost a year and a half refining the technique. In my work, granules do not form a strict pattern, but a controlled form of playfulness: subtle, refined and always applied by hand. Granules have since become a recognizable part of my signature.<\/p>\n
From the first sketch to the setting of the gemstone, I craft each piece of jewelry myself in my studio. I also teach courses in which I enjoy sharing my love for the craft. Contact with my clients is an important part of my work. The stories, the consultation and the collaborative search for a design make my craft personal and special. Whereas some goldsmiths choose a position without customer contact, for me that connection is actually indispensable. I am craftswoman at heart, but my work lives through the people for whom I make it.<\/p>\n
