Gems and pearls – colour and character in every piece of jewellery<\/h2>\n

Although I like to wear black myself, my jewellery is always full of colour. Coloured gemstones and pearls are at the heart of my designs, giving each creation a unique look. I consciously choose natural materials, not lab-grown stones. Natural gemstones are formed in the earth and therefore have inclusions and colour variations that make them unique; synthetic stones from the laboratory are often perfect in colour and almost free of inclusions. This authenticity and rarity give the jewellery a soul.<\/p>\n

Natural gemstones and pearls<\/h3>\n

I work exclusively with natural gemstones and pearls. These are stones and pearls formed by nature and extracted from the earth or from water. The unique inclusions and colour variations make each piece of jewellery one of a kind. Lab-grown stones, while chemically identical, lack those natural nuances. For me, the pure beauty and rarity of natural materials are key.<\/p>\n

Tourmaline: versatile and enchanting<\/h3>\n

Tourmaline is one of my favourite stones because of its wide range of hues. According to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the tourmaline species offers the greatest variety: it can be green, blue, yellow, pink to red, colourless, or even multi-colored. In my designs, this variety plays a major role; from soft pinks and deep greens to warm yellows or a mysterious shade of grey. There is also the symbolic significance often attributed to tourmaline: it is said to purify and balance energy.<\/p>\n

Corundum: sapphires and rubies<\/h3>\n

Sapphires and rubies belong to the corundum family. Rubies are red due to traces of chromium, and the blue corundum is called sapphire. These gemstones are loved for their durability; they have a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale<\/a>, making them highly resistant to scratches. But did you know that sapphires come in many colours? In addition to the (blue) sapphire and the (red) ruby, there are also yellow, green, purple and pink corundum. Because of their hardness and intense colours, these stones give a luxurious character to my designs.<\/p>\n

Diamond: timeless classic<\/h3>\n

Diamonds are the hardest known gemstone and score a perfect 10 on the Mohs scale. Thanks to this unique hardness, they are highly resistant to scratches and retain their brilliance for a lifetime. The sparkling brilliance makes diamonds ideal for both subtle accents and striking eye-catchers. Because of their timeless elegance, I like to combine diamonds with colour stones for contrast and light play.<\/p>\n

Pearls: elegant and unique<\/h3>\n

Pearls bring elegance and softness to jewellery. They are organic and arise in shellfish. Pearls, however, are soft: with a hardness of 2.5 on the Mohs scale, they can be scratched easily and require careful handling. Still, well-cared-for pearls can last a lifetime. I select pearls for shape, lustre, and colour – from Akoya to Tahiti to freshwater – and use them to create classic and modern designs.<\/p>\n
