Cleopatra’s pearls

The Cleopatra Necklace is part of the MIND collection, which provides space to explore new ideas and create designs that sometimes venture just beyond my usual boundaries.

It all started with a strand of pearls and a name that immediately stuck: Cleopatra pearls. It immediately reminded me of the famous story of Cleopatra dissolving a pearl in vinegar during a banquet with Mark Antony—a story that has symbolised luxury, power, and elegance for centuries. It was not literal history, but rather its image and the imagination surrounding it that served as the starting point for this design.

As a nod to that legend, I incorporated a solid gold pearl into the necklace. A small detail that ties the story to the design and contrasts with the soft lustre of the Akoya pearls.

Akoya pearls are known for their refined lustre and understated elegance. Combined with the gold, the result is a necklace that makes a statement without being overpowering. Classic in design, but with an unexpected detail that gives it a unique character.

This necklace has been sold and is now part of my archive of past designs. Due to the combination of materials and the unique nature of the design, this necklace cannot be replicated exactly. However, it can serve as inspiration for a new design with your own twist.
