Gold ring with pink corundum

When I was in London to purchase gemstones, I was instantly drawn to this bright pink oval cut 'sweet'. It is a pink corundum gemstone with a hint of orange.

Corundum is the name for a specific type of gemstone. The gemstones that are part of this family and which you may know, are ruby and sapphire. But did you know that these names only apply to the colour that goes with the name? This means that the ruby is red (and actually is a corundum gemstone with a typical red colour) and the same goes for sapphire blue (which actually is a corundum gemstone with the typical blue sapphire colour).

This pink corundum has been incorporated in a 14ct yellow gold ring and decorated with yellow gold granules. Because corundum rates 9 on the hardness scale, this gemstone is very well suited to wear on a daily basis. The ring is unique because there is not another gemstone like this one around. It is possible to change the size of the ring. Please contact me if you have any questions.
