Remembrance jewelry with meaning
Some jewellery carries a deeper meaning – they help you keep someone who is missed close. In my studio, I design and make memorial jewelry in which ashes are given a place in a careful and respectful way. Each design is created in consultation, with attention to your story and the feeling that goes with it.
Options for processing ashes
There are several ways to incorporate ashes into a piece of jewelry. You can choose an invisible or just visible compartment, on the inside or outside of a ring. Ashes can also have a place in a pendant or in ear jewelry. In addition, I offer the option of storing ashes in an enclosed space under a gemstone.
I never place ashes directly behind a gemstone because settings are not completely watertight. When moisture is added, the ashes may compress and therefore preserve less beautifully. Therefore, I always create a carefully sealed space that is safely sealed and preserves the memory permanently. This creates jewelry that is both technically well thought out and emotionally valuable.
Sustainable and secure techniques
I am frequently asked if I work with epoxy resin. I deliberately don’t do that, because I know from experience that this is not a sustainable solution. An enclosed space provides just the security and peace of mind that are so important with this type of jewelry. Moreover, this will keep the jewelry beautiful and strong for years. Within this technique, there are countless possibilities for creating a personal and unique piece of jewelry.
Collaborating to craft a personalised piece of jewellery
Making a memory jewelry is an intimate process. That’s why I like to take my time with it. Together we will discuss what shapes, materials and gemstones suit you. This creates a design that does justice to the memory and can provide comfort.
