This ring from the Sirius collection is crafted in 14-karat yellow gold and set with an oval-cut bi-colored tourmaline measuring 8 x 6 mm. The stone shows a gentle color gradient from pale pink to a warm, almost peachy hue. The ring band has a subtle texture and, like the granules and the setting, is highly polished. The name Sirius came about after a visit with my family to the observatory in Lochem. There an astronomer told us about Sirius, the brightest star in our sky and part of the constellation Canis Major – the Great Dog. In ancient cultures, this star symbolised brightness, direction and return.
As I listened, I thought of the rings I had been making for some time: one stone, one source of light. That’s how I knew they had to bear the name Sirius.
