Sirius with violet-coloured tourmaline

A ring with character and sophistication

This ring from the Sirius collection is crafted in 14-karat yellow gold and set with an oval-cut lavender-colored tourmaline measuring 9 x 7 mm (1.69 ct). The ring band has an angular hammered texture and is fully polished. As a result, the gold captures light in different ways. The subtle texture plays with reflection and adds depth and dimension to the whole.

The special color of lavender tourmaline

The tourmaline is exceptional in color. Lavender-colored tourmalines are rare within the tourmaline spectrum. Their soft violet tones arise from traces of manganese and iron. Depending on the light, the tourmaline changes from cool lilac to a warm, pink glow. This creates a color that exudes both tranquility and strength – subdued, but vibrant.

The inspiration behind the name Sirius

The name Sirius took on meaning after a visit with my family to the observatory in Lochem. There, an astronomer told us about the star Sirius, the brightest in our sky and part of the constellation Canis Major – the Great Dog. In ancient cultures, this star symbolized brightness, direction and return. It was the moment when her emergence coincided with the flooding of the Nile and the beginning of a new season.
As I listened, I thought about the rings I had been making for some time: one stone, one source of light. That’s how I knew they had to be named Sirius.

Craft and detail

Six small diamonds (VVS/F) are subtly incorporated into the design. They enhance the brightness of the tourmaline without being overpowering. The handmade granules and polished finish add extra detail to the design. This is characteristic of the Sirius collection: clean lines, powerful shapes and gemstones with meaning.
