Jewelry making course with Sarah Kobak in Beltrum, Gelderland
Are you curious about jewelry making and want to experience working with precious metals for yourself? In my studio in Beltrum I give courses in goldsmithing for both beginners and advanced students. In small groups you will discover step by step the art of this special craft, with personal guidance and plenty of room for your own creativity.
With more than 17 years of teaching experience – first in Zaandam and since 2022 in Beltrum – I have had the opportunity to guide many students. Whether you are holding a saw for the first time, or already bring some experience: everyone works at their own level and pace. No prior knowledge is required. Curiosity and a desire to make something with your hands are enough.
What will you learn during the course?
Each new student starts with a specially developed basic assignment in brass. This will introduce you to the main techniques of goldsmithing, such as measuring with the caliper, sawing, filing, soldering and finishing. A ring is created from this brass – a tangible result that will help you master the basics.
After completing these first 10 lessons (one block), you will be able to work independently on your own designs in silver. Those who already have experience can delve into new techniques and personal projects.
The format of the course
The course is structured in blocks of 10 lessons.
The format is as follows:
-
Lesson groups consist of a maximum of 6 people. As a result, there is a lot of personal attention and guidance.
-
Beginners learn the basics; advanced students work on their own designs.
-
There is one catch-up opportunity per block on a Saturday morning.
-
Please note that missed classes outside of this catch-up opportunity cannot be made up.
The pleasure of working with your hands, discovering new techniques and coming home with a homemade jewellery – that’s what makes this course special.
