This ring from the Sirius collection is crafted in 14-karat yellow gold and set with an oval-cut green tourmaline measuring 8.2 x 6 mm. The ring band has a subtle texture and, like the granules and the setting, is highly polished. Because of that finish, the gold captures light in a sophisticated way. The structure plays with reflection, adding depth and dimension.
The color and depth of the stone
The tourmaline is highly polished, giving it remarkable volume and vibrancy. Its depth makes the color exceptionally intense – a green that seems to breathe. Depending on the light, the stone shows shades from fresh emerald green to deeper moss green. As a result, the high grind creates a special glow: the light seems to gather in the stone and release in layers. This creates a natural depth that gives this tourmaline its distinctive character.

The meaning of Sirius
The name Sirius took on meaning after a visit with my family to the observatory in Lochem. There, an astronomer told us about the star Sirius – the brightest in our sky and part of the constellation Canis Major (the Great Dog). In ancient cultures, this star symbolized brightness, direction and return. That was when her rise coincided with the flooding of the Nile and the beginning of a new season.
As I listened, I thought of the rings I had been making for some time: one stone, one source of light. That’s why I knew this collection had to be called Sirius.
